If you have ever heard the iconic song Dragula by Rob Zombie, you may, or may not, realize it is written about the Munsters’ family vehicle, often seen in the show. Rob Zombie, a long time fan of the 60’s sitcom could hardly contain his excitement of being given the Project

“Attention Boils and Ghouls!,” Zombie wrote on Instagram. “The rumors are true! My next film project will be the one I’ve been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! Stay tuned for exciting details as things progress!”

Zombie will be making this movie at Universal Studios’ 1440 Entertainment. Expectations will be high for those in the horror community, as The Munsters is a long loved sitcom and has yet to have a modern remake, unlike its arguable sister show “The Addams Family”, which has had multiple remakes.

Multiple questions are brought to mind on how this movie’s production will proceed. The casting is of high importance, as whoever is set to play the beloved Herman Munster (Fred Gwynne) will have some very large shoes to fill. Herman is arguably the most loved character of the show, with his goofball antics and lumbering tongue in cheekesque humor. Will Zombie stick with some of his go-to actors from previous films? We hope not. Don’t get me wrong, Sherri Moon Zombie’s roles in Rob Zombie’s previous films are rather good, and sometimes unnerving. But I just don’t know if Lily Munster is meant to have a high pitch laugh that makes you want to pluck your eardrums out (if you’ve seen a Zombie film, you know what I’m talking about).

The biggest question on our minds, however, is will The Munsters be an ode to the long ended sitcom, or will Zombie up the creepy factor like he did in the Halloween remakes? Time will tell as we await a release date.
