Day 13: The Creepy Couch

Welcome back to the Creepy Couch! Tonight we are watching a classic film that spurred a 7 season cult classic show that puts modern vampire shows to shame. Tonight, we are watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992).

Movie description: For Buffy Summers (Kristy Swanson), nothing is the same after she meets Merrick Jamison-Smythe (Donald Sutherland). Merrick tells the teen that he’s been sent to train her to fight vampires, and he proves himself by displaying his supernatural powers. Buffy is a quick study, and soon takes fellow student Oliver Pike (Luke Perry) under her wing, repeatedly saving him from fierce bloodsuckers. But, when a very dangerous vampire (Rutger Hauer) gets rambunctious, she must go to war again.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) is a must see for anyone who loves the vampire world. Furthermore, if you already have seen the historic show, then the film should be no stranger. But, for those who don’t know, Buffy gives you all the things you’d ever want out of a 90’s teen horror movie. Cheesy one liners, teen romance, and no shortage of blood and gore. The story line is pretty entertaining as well with actors like Paul Reubens, Donald Sutherland, and Seth Green to help the eye rolling moments along with A-list acting.

I’ll be the first to admit it, Buffy isn’t for everyone. But I believe if you give it a chance and get into the 90’s frame of mind, you may find it has a personality that shines all on its own.

Check out Buffy the Vampire Slayer tonight and let us know what you thought. Are you a long time Buffy fan or would you have rather cuddled up with leather face and all his Texas chainsaw massacring? Check back tomorrow for our next recommendation for our 20 Days to Halloween movie marathon!

Stay Creepy!
