Day 16: The Creepy Couch

It’s Day 16 and it’s time for another vampire movie on the Creepy Couch, apart of our 20 Days to Halloween movie marathon! Tonight is a riveting Swedish indie film, Let the Right One In.

Film Description: When Oskar (Kåre Hedebrant), a sensitive, bullied 12-year-old boy living with his mother in suburban Sweden, meets his new neighbor, the mysterious and moody Eli (Lina Leandersson), they strike up a friendship. Oskar and Eli slowly form a close bond, but it soon becomes apparent that she is no ordinary young girl. Eventually, Eli shares her dark, macabre secret with Oskar, revealing her connection to a string of bloody local murders.

Most of the movies we have featured so far have been big name, A-list level actor material. And while the Hollywood horrors are great, we feel it’s necessary to shine the limelight on the truly astounding work that is done all over the world.

Let the Right One In is a jarring and memorable vampire movie that will leave you with both shock and admiration for the story. The cold and snowy Swedish backdrop plays deeply into the emotions and scenes that are throughout the film. Melancholic and bittersweet are the words I would use to describe the two main characters and their story. The murders committed by Eli (the child vampire) are gruesome and satisfying yet sometimes unsettling.

In short, this film is a masterpiece within the Horror genre. It’s vicious and romantic, the story telling is engaging and entertaining, and above all it holds an eternal place in horror and our hearts.

Check out Let the Right One In tonight and tell us what you thought! Yes it’s in Swedish but if you can deal with the subtitles, you are in for a hell of a treat. As always, check out tomorrow’s post for our next vampire film here on the Creepy Couch!

Stay Creepy!
